II. Lessons from Sketching:
From Rigidity to Freedom
In May 2023, sketching outdoors helped me break free from rigid habits. Initially, I struggled with the impulse to replicate reality but soon found freedom in fluid perspectives. Inspired by Cubism, I let go of detailed sketches, focusing on impressions rather than precision. Sketching on buses and in parks, I responded to fleeting moments: sunlight on grass, or reflections in water. Using bold tools like oil pastels and markers, I embraced spontaneity and allowed mistakes to bring life to my drawings. This approach reminded me that drawing is about capturing emotions, not perfection.
