Wood, paper, cardboard, string lights and found objects, 1m × 1m × 1.5m, 2024
A scattered puzzle, with fragments of chip packets, bubble tea straws, and her favorite pink hair clip from childhood. The women in the painting are both performing on stage and sneaking a laugh from the audience, stepping on a fingerprint-marked floor. "What is memory?" she asks herself. "Is it the old phone with a forgotten password, or the plastic flowers at grandma’s house?" She draws these questions in crooked lines, as if sketching a poster for an absurd play. She doesn’t care about the answers, because they’ve already been layered into every patch of color and every sarcastic joke...
I create a small, house-like structure using wood, recycled newspapers, and cardboard, with painted imagery on the interior walls that symbolize complex emotions and fragmented memories. This intimate space acts as both a sanctuary and a lens for exploring emotional contradictions. Nostalgia here transcends a mere revisiting of the past, becoming a means to re-examine identity and emotions. My practice integrates installation, painting, drawing, etching, and found objects. Through an interactive design, I invite viewers to step into this immersive space, where narratives of nostalgia and anxiety unfold. The choice of materials embodies themes of reconstruction and renewal, reflecting both fragility and resilience. Within this space, viewers transition from passive observers to active participants, engaging in a shared dialogue of emotions.
